Aanjar
Aanjar, 58 km from Beirut, is completely
different from any other archaeological experience you will have
in Lebanon. Aanjar is exclusively one period, the Umayyad, going
back to the early 8th Century A.D. It is a unique historical
example of commercial center on strategic trade route leading to
Damascus, Homs, Baalbeck and the south.
The ruins of restored palaces; souks, bath, colonnaded streets
and walls recall the memories of its short but energetic moment
in history.
