Byblos

This coastal city 37 Km north of Beirut is one of the top contendors for "the oldest continuously inhabited city" award. The site of Byblos is one of the richest archaeological areas in the Middle East dating back at least 7000 years.

The extensive excavation revealed Phoenician, Egyptian, Assyrian, Persian, Roman, Arab, Crusader and Ottoman remains.The old part of town with its ancient site, old harbor, churches, old market area, cafés and restaurants make Byblos a popular destination.
