The Cedars

140 Km from Beirut, "The Cedars" is both the summer and winter resort in Lebanon's highest range and one of the most beautiful spots in the country.
Its centerpiece is an ancient grove of 400 Cedars, some more than 1500 years old, known as Cedars of God.

The forests which once covered the entire Mount Lebanon in ancient times, were heavily exploited by Phoenicians , Greeks, Romans, Byzantine, etc... These majestic trees played an important role in the culture, trade and religious observances of the ancient Middle East. Solomon used Cedar's wood for his temple and Egyptians used it for their "sun ships" and sarcophagi.
